Grand Teton National Park (Summer)
Grand Teton National Park, located south of Yellowstone, is known for the towering mountains of the Teton Range. The park itself is named after the Grand Teton, which at 13,770 feet, is the tallest mountain in the range. The Tetons are young mountains by geologic standards, and they are still being carved by rushing mountain streams and glaciers. A number of lakes, including Jackson and Jenny Lakes, lie at the base of the Teton Range, making for some remarkable landscape scenery. The Snake River, which originates in Yellowstone, meanders through the park, adding to the unique scenery.
Grand Teton National Park is part of a greater area that also contains Yellowstone National Park. The images contained in this gallery were taken during a trip made to the Greater Yellowstone area in summer 2009 intended to serve as an introduction to the region.
